Aravaipa Canyon – West: A Day Trip From Tucson
Aravaipa Canyon West, Brandenburg Station, is a Day Trip from Tucson. Much easier to get to than the East Entrance.
From the West end you can camp overnight at Brandenburg station and head out early in the morning. Bring padding.
You must have a BLM day pass. Permits can be obtained only by contacting the Safford, Arizona District Office by calling (928) 348-4400. The permits are currently only $5 for each person. The BLM severely restricts the number of people who can use the Canyon at any one time. Something like 50 total, 30 from the west and 20 from the East. Also on a limited basis you can ride your horse through here, but you can’t bring your dog. You will be hiking through water much of the time, so bring a change of socks, shoes, towels.
