Friend Gus (aka Stephen), Neighbor Roy, and I dined at Tucson’s Locale Neighborhood Italian Restaurant in early November 2021. The three of us entered the expansive courtyard/patio and were greeted by the receptionist. She told us the patio seating would be a 45 minute wait, so we reluctantly choose to be seated inside right away. As inviting as the seating on the patio seemed to be, it wasn’t worth a 45 minute wait. This was the former site of Old Pueblo Grille, one of our favorites for the patio and food.
Ordering was very quick. Gus ordered a meatball pizza slice. Roy and I each ordered a pepperoni pizza slice. I originally wanted a slice of lasagna, but I knew Ms. Karen would object on account of my excessive weight. Roy ordered his usual hot tea and I ordered a margarita. The place was fairly packed and a bit noisy which made it difficult to have a conversation.
That aside, my margarita was delicious, as was my pizza.

“We dined at Locale on Alvernon. We arrived in the large and imposing courtyard, only to find a 45 minute wait for a table outside. We chose the inside where we we promptly seated in the dining room. The building shows signs of a recent renovation. We were served quickly–we ordered an appetizer of calamari, which was enough for 3 hungry men. The order was quite good. I highly recommend this appetizer. We all ordered single slices of pizza, which was ample for each of us, I had my usual hot tea. The waitress was quick and the food was ample and tasty. I would give it 4 saguaros, based on food, atmosphere and service, but with one minor quibble…the higher than norm noise level. Presumably the outside on the expansive courtyard-patio was much quieter. Hopefully management is working on the problem. I would like to re-visit at some time in the future. I do highly recommend this restaurant.”
