Neighbor Roy and I took off for lunch on Saturday in early June 2022 headed for Med Cuisine on Prince Road. Problem was, it isn’t there. But there was a Chinese restaurant in that shopping center, so we decided to dine there instead. It turned out to be a winner. It is called the Sky Dragon.
The sign said “OPEN”, but there were no cars. Roy checked the door and, YUP!, it was open. So we entered and were the only customers in the place. Gave us pause, but what the heck, we were there and hungry. We sat down and quickly ordered an appetizer of chicken egg rolls.
Roy then ordered his usual hot tea. I ordered iced tea with lemon. Our server, a pleasant Asian lady, then took our lunch orders. Roy ordered Lo-Mein with shrimp. I ordered Mongolian Beef with egg flower soup and crab wonton. This was spicy, tender beef stir fried with onions, served on a bed of crispy rice noodles with a side of fried rice ($9.99).

“This week we dined at a neighborhood Chinese restaurant in the Safeway shopping center at Prince/Campbell center, The Sky Dragon. It was our 2nd choice–mainly because we could not locate our first choice. As it turned out we were the only customers for lunch. This family-style Chinese restaurant was immaculate, tastefully decorated appropriately with Chinese hangings. Our waitress was prompt and presented our menus and took our orders. I ordered an appetizer of egg rolls and my main dish of the combination Lo-mein–and my usual hot tea. They had choices–I took the Jasmine tea–very tasty. My plate was a generous portion–I could not finish it all and will have it tomorrow. I split the egg rolls with Jim–extremely hot and tasty, All in all, I would give it 3 1/2 saguaros for prompt and attentive service, the ambiance of the setting, and the plentiful and good food at an extremely reasonable price. Getting a main dish for under $10.00 anywhere in Tucson is a rare treat today.”
My Mongolian Beef was very good. So were the Egg Flower Soup and Crab Wontons and the Chicken Egg Rolls. The place seemed a little drab, but of course, it was empty of customers except for Roy and me. Peaceful Oriental music played in the background. I award Sky Dragon a three and a-half Saguaro rating.
