There’s a Bee Swarm in my Yard!
OR.. “WHAT THE H… IS THAT?” This is a bee swarm. As best I can tell it is an Africanized bee swarm. (They just don’t Look like honey bees.) We were on our way to Tombstone for their “Tombstone at Twilight”, which happens most 4th Saturday’s of the month. Pulling out of the driveway, we see this sight. What is that? Whatever shall we do? Call the cops? Call the fire department? Call the exterminator? Call a beecharmer? None of the above. Do nothing and most likely they will go away in a day or two. At this point in their cycle, they are non-aggressive, simply resting before they move on to find another home. Just wait them out. Don’t bother them, and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES get out the RAID! Most likely they will leave as suddenly as they showed up. IF not, then the next best bet is a beekeeper, especially if you find them in a shed or garage, and they just won’t go away. Expect to pay. Although beekeepers love bees, it is long, slow work removing bees. Post mortem: The bees were gone when we got home.
