Sauce: A Dining Review
For last Friday’s lunch, Ms. Karen suggested Sauce on Campbell Avenue in Tucson because Roy wanted pizza. He’d been ill and wanted something that resembled comfort food. So we invited Richard, our Canadian friend, to join us. This restaurant is just South of Fort Lowell in a strip center. We parked in the handicapped spot right in front.
As we entered, we passed a large open patio, but it wasn’t quite noon and the lunch crowd had not yet arrived. I sat down and let the boys order for me. As it turned out, Roy and I ordered about the same thing. A regular pizza with half pepperoni and half sausage with original hand-stretched thin crust ($11.00). Richard ordered the mozzarella, fontina, and basil pizza ($11.00) with a thin crust.
Here, Roy can tell you about his experience.
“This week we decided on “comfort” food–in this case I wanted pizza. Jim’s wife Karen suggested a new (to me) pizza restaurant in mid-town called SAUCE Pizza on Campbell Ave. Jim and I were joined by our Canadian friend, who is now a welcome regular. The restaurant is in a strip shopping center and the parking is plentiful. There is an outside shaded patio which was empty. Inside is a large space–the extensive menus take up the entire wall. It is an order at a cashier, take a number and select a table. They give you a number on a small stand. In this case, traffic was light. I ordered a pizza with cheese and sausage and a soft drink. I also ordered a pizza for Jim–but will let him tell you about it.
