The most popular section on our Southern Arizona Guide website is our pick for the Best Mexican Restaurant in Tucson. We rank the top three. Most folks concur with our ranking, but every once in a while someone will take exception and say something like, “Well, my favorite Mexican restaurant is not any of your 3, but rather ________.”
This happened recently when a lady whom I respect told me that her favorite is _______ . Well, she couldn’t recall the name, but told me that it has been in the same family for generations and is down there south of the Tucson Convention Center.
“You mean near Cushing Street Bar & Restaurant?” (Cushing Street was one of our favorites eateries, closed now. The Coronet has taken its place.)
“Yes,” she replied.
“You must be thinking of El Minuto Café,” I offered.
“Yes! That’s the one.” She then proceeded to tell me what her favorite El Minuto dishes are.
