From Paradise Az to the Wonderland of Rocks: A 3-Day Road Trip!
Our perfect 3-Day Road Trip started in Tucson and headed east to (A) Willcox. From there we continued on I-10 over the AZ-New Mexico border to NM Hwy 80. Then south to Rodeo, NM where we visited the Chiricahua Desert Museum. Leaving Rodeo, we continued south on 80 to (B) DD Gamble Guest Lodge where owners Tom & Alicia served a gourmet lunch and we enjoyed their miniature horses. Then on to (C) Paradise were we stayed at the George Walker House for two nights and explored Cave Creek Canyon. You may also rent a cabin from the Coronado National Park Service. On the 3rd day, we took Forest Service Road 42 over the mountain to (D) Chiricahua National Monument were we hiked the Wonderland of Rocks. That afternoon, we stopped at the ruins of (E) Fort Bowie before heading back home in Tucson.
In mid-October one year, four of us enjoyed a 3-day road trip exploring the wilds of Eastern Cochise County. Ms. Karen & I had planned this trip a few months earlier when we reserved the historic George Walker House in Paradise, AZ for two nights. We were most pleased that Ms. Sue & Ms. Rosemary could join us.
You will see from the slideshow below that we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Hover over the slides to get the back story.
