Family Fun: Día de los Muertos at the Art Museum
FREE! On Sunday, November 1, 2015, our Tucson Museum of Art will help us all celebrate the Annual Día de los Muertos from 12 PM to 3 PM in the Museum’s courtyards, plaza and lobby. This is definitely a family-fun event.
There will be a community altar, altars decorated by local schools, live music by Mariachi Aztlan from Pueblo High School, a piñata, chalk and bean drawings by Pima Community College students, art-making for families, and face painting for kids. Vendors will provide Mexican food and beverages for sale. Participants can be photographed as a skeleton rendered by ~:Banda Calaca:~ installation artist Hank Tusinski. Families are encouraged to join the fun.
A procession of artists with masks, giant puppets, and costumes will arrive at 12:30 PM, and tour the Museum grounds led by artist and TMA faculty Sue Johnson, creator of the Tucson All Souls Procession.
This celebration at the Art Museum is one week before the annual All Souls Procession through Downtown on Sunday November 8, 2015.
