Reading and Writing Nature: Sky Islands Edition
Join us at the Pima County Community Center atop Mt. Lemmon for a half-day program exploring how we can connect to the natural world around us, and to each other, through writing. We’ll begin with an exploratory walk to awaken our senses in the cool mountain air – a respite from the June heat in Tucson. We’ll spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon exploring various forms of nature writing, from poetry to essays to field guides, and trying our hands at creative reflection. Short readings will be emailed beforehand, but discussion will be inclusive for those who may not have time to read them in advance. No experience is needed – just an interest in nature, a fondness of words, and a willingness to try something new and creative. Masks are mandatory indoors; social distancing will be enforced. Group size strictly limited. No walk-ins accepted.
