West Tucson can generally be described as west of Interstate 10, although, Downtown is about as far west as you can get as well. There are few dining opportunities here unless you include Downtown and Marana. Here are a few of the worthwhile ones.
Lunch At Agustin Kitchen: A Dining Review
In mid-May 2023, Ms. Karen and I, along with recent Tucson friends (they just moved here from Oregon), Linda and Gus, had lunch at Augustin Kitchen on their patio. Ms. Karen had known these friends since her college days. As it turned out, this was a “Thank You” lunch. They … Continue reading
A Revisit To Old Time Kafe: A Dining Review
A week or so ago, Neighbor Roy brought me an article about a new Turkish restaurant in Tucson: The Turkish Grill House on Prince Road. So we thought we’d try it. The problem turned out that it didn’t open until 3 PM. And, it turned out, to be at the … Continue reading
Mei Mei’s Revisited: A Dining Review
Neighbor Roy and I had not been to Mei Mei’s since before the pandemic. We figured it was about time to go back in early April, 2023. Once seated by a slender, young Asian woman, we ordered drinks. Roy, as usual, ordered hot tea. I ordered Iced Tea with lemon. … Continue reading
Monterey Court: A Dining Review
Ms. Karen and I, along with friends and neighbors Ron and Elaine, visited Monterey Court on Miracle Mile near Oracle on the first day of May, 2022. We went there for brunch. We of course knew about this place for many years but never seemed to get there. Ron and … Continue reading
Old Times Kafe Revisited: A Review
Neighbor Roy and I usually go out to lunch at noon on Fridays, but one week in late March 2022, Roy was having plumbing work done at his home on this particular Friday. So we went to lunch on Saturday. We had earlier decided to go again to the Old … Continue reading
Mei Mei Chinese Restaurant Revisited: A Dining Review
One Friday in early December 2021, Neighbor Roy and I dined at Mei Mei Chinese Restaurant once again. We had been there a few years ago and really enjoyed it. But over the Pandemic we avoided most indoor dining opportunities. There were plenty of open tables when we arrived, but … Continue reading
Agustin Kitchen: A Dining Review
Neighbor Roy and I went to Agustin Kitchen on a Friday in November 2021. It was a busy place and took a while to get menus. No surprise. The pandemic has hit restaurants hard lately and servers are hard to come by. When we were served, I ordered calamari to … Continue reading
St. Mary’s Mexican Food: A Dining Review
It was again a Friday and time for Neighbor Roy and I to go out to lunch. This time I picked St. Mary’s Mexican Food on St. Mary’s Road just east of Grande. We arrived at our usual time: 12:30 PM and the place was packed. Most of the patrons … Continue reading
Agustin Kitchen: A Dining Review
On an afternoon in mid-November, Neighbor Roy & I went to lunch at Agustin Kitchen. By no coincidence, I had a $25 gift card to spend there. We arrived at 12:30 pm and the place was not at all crowded. Had it been, it would have been pretty noisy as … Continue reading
Old Times Kafe: A Review
Neighbor Roy and I went to the Old Times Kafe one afternoon, mostly because I had a discount Dining Card from the Arizona Daily Star, our local newspaper. Besides, it was close by on the West Side of town. They serve breakfast and lunch and close at 2 PM. On … Continue reading
