Where does “East Tucson” begin? I suppose that depends on where you live. For us, east Tucson is somewhere east of Alvernon, which is really pretty Central. The more Tucson stretches east, the further “East Tucson” gets. Perhaps Swan or Country Club should be the dividing line. Some put East Tucson as far out as Wilmot. You decide. In any case you will find many, many upscale restaurants on the “Eastside”. Here are a few.
Texas Burrito Company: A Dining Review
On a Friday in early May 2022, Neighbor Roy and I went to lunch at the Texas Burrito Company in the Costco center off Kino Parkway. It was a bit of a drive from our homes in NW Tucson in the Tucson Mountains, but what the heck. It was a … Continue reading
Inca Peruvian Cuisine: A Review
On day in late summer 2019, Neighbor Roy and I went to Inca Peruvian Cuisine on the East side of Tucson. We were looking forward to experiencing exotic spices from South America. Now, mind you, we knew nothing about Peruvian Food, but I had a discount coupon from the Arizona … Continue reading
El Cisne Restaurant & Tequila Bar : A Review
El Cisne translates to “swan” in English. This restaurant is definitely upscale, which in Tucson means they serve on table cloths with cloth napkins. Also, the lights are low (bring a flashlight) and the background music is soft. It’s located in a nondescript shopping center on the northeast side of … Continue reading
Shish Kebab House: Jordanian Cuisine In Tucson Arizona
Last week I wrote a review of Za’atar, a Tucson “restaurant” that serves Iraqi and Iranian foods, most notably shish kabobs. This traditional Middle Eastern dish consists of bite-size chunks of seasoned meat or fish plus veggies roasted on a skewer and served with rice and various sauces and condiments. … Continue reading

Polish Cottage: A Review!
It took several months to arrange for this review of Polish Cottage on East Broadway. Not being Polish, or as far as I know, never having had authentic Polish cuisine, I had to find someone of Polish ancestry and culture to accompany us. How else would I be able to … Continue reading

Tucson Racquet Club Friday Night BBQ: A Tradition and A Bargain!
By Gary Gomez, Editor: Budget Tucson (June 2014) Who doesn’t like a BBQ? (I’m a believer that food that is BBQ’ed is smoked not grilled). Add a family atmosphere, swimming, a lawn to spread your blanket or set up your lawn chairs, good food, a full bar and a restaurant … Continue reading
El Sur Mexican Restaurant: A Review
Visitors always want to know about local places that offer good food at a budget price. We have so many, but El Sur has the best tacos I’ve had in Tucson. In many visits I’ve only had one meal I wouldn’t highly recommend. Tacos Caseros are to die for. I … Continue reading
