Agustin Kitchen: A Dining Review
On an afternoon in mid-November, Neighbor Roy & I went to lunch at Agustin Kitchen. By no coincidence, I had a $25 gift card to spend there. We arrived at 12:30 pm and the place was not at all crowded. Had it been, it would have been pretty noisy as there was nothing to baffle the sound.
First, we ordered a plate of calamari as an appetizer: red bell pepper, carrot, mae ploy, black sesame seeds ($14).
Then we ordered drinks. Roy had hot tea, as usual. I ordered my usual sauvignon blanc wine.
When our drinks arrived, Roy ordered an AK Burger: Angus beef, charred onions, aioli, tomatoes, house pickles, lettuce, honey truffle mustard with choice of cheeses ($16).
I ordered a Pesto Chicken sandwich: roasted tomatoes, valbreso sheep milk feta, greens, red onion, dijon, barrio bread ($15). Both came with an order of French fries.
Our calamari was delicious, fried but not greasy. It was not like the calamari we enjoyed at Bottega Michelangelo’s which was served in a cream sauce. But was equally as good.
Then came our main meals. I asked Roy how he liked his AK Burger and how it would rank on our List of the 10 Best Burgers in Tucson. He said it would rank near the top.
My Pesto Chicken sandwich was also very good. As were the fries.
And the service was as good as our meals.
We rate this experience at Agustin Kitchen five saguaros: excellent!
