Mescal Arizona: A Slideshow

Mescal Arizona is a faux Old West town 50 miles east of Tucson that was built as a movie set. A lot of Westerns were filmed here, including Quick & The Dead starring Gene Hackman, Russell Crow, and Sharon Stone, and Tombstone starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. Frank Brown has been caretaker there for many years and occasionally gives tours. He has many entertaining stories about stars, such as Clint Eastwood, who made movies here. This is a sister site of Old Tucson Studios. I took these photographs in April 2012 while on one of Frank's walking tours. Note: Mescal is seldom open to the public. It's not an Old West theme park like Old Tucson. If you want to go, best to call Old Tucson and make arrangements (520-883-0100). Otherwise, you're likely to get out to Mescal and just be turned away.
